One of the most common ways to prepare squid rings is to coat them in flour, but batter may also be used and then fried briefly until crisp and cooked through. If you’d like, you can also roast squid with a few seasonings in a shallow dish in the oven. These squid rings are delicious whether it’s battered, breaded, or sautéed in their natural state. A side of ranch dressing is a must-have. Each squid ring has a diameter of 1 to 2 inches. They are packed in plain vacuum-sealed bags. The 1-kilo version is immediately wrapped in a plain bag.

What Do Squid Rings Taste Like?

Squid has a pleasant taste, mildly sweet and almost nutty in flavour. Some people say it has a fishy taste. Its flavour can change drastically after being tenderised and submerged in egg or milk. Squid can be firm, rubbery, or gummy based on how it’s prepared and how long it’s cooked.

Responsibly-Sourced Squids

Squids are not at great risk of being overfished since they are slow-growing species and at alternate stages attain sexual maturity, enabling some regulation on their reproduction. Squid farming is well developed in several countries, such as Japan, the European Union, the United Kingdom, and Australia. All of our squids are harvested and handled sustainably at Frozen Fish Direct.
