    Method

    • How to Make Barramundi with Black Bean Sauce
    • Pat dry 4 barramundi fillets, season both sides lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper
    • Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a nonstick pan over medium-high heat
    • Place the fillets skin-side down in the hot pan, cook for 3–4 minutes until golden and crisp
    • Flip the fillets, reduce heat slightly, add 1 more tablespoon olive oil if needed, cook an additional 2–3 minutes until just cooked through
    • Remove fillets from pan and rest on a warm plate
    • In a separate saucepan, heat 1 tablespoon sesame oil over medium heat
    • Add 1/4 cup finely chopped onion, stirring until softened (about 2 minutes)
    • Add 2 cloves minced garlic and 1 teaspoon grated ginger, sauté 30 seconds until fragrant
    • Stir in 1 (15 oz) can black beans (drained and rinsed), cook 1 minute
    • Pour in 1/4 cup chicken broth, 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons rice vinegar, and 2 teaspoons sugar
    • Simmer sauce, mashing some beans gently with the back of a spoon, until slightly thickened (3–4 minutes)
    • Taste and adjust seasoning if needed with extra soy or pepper
    • Arrange barramundi fillets on serving plates, spoon black bean sauce generously over each fillet
    • Garnish with 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro and 1 teaspoon toasted sesame seeds
    • Serve immediately, pairing with steamed rice or lightly blanched greens if desired
    • For plating, create a base of sauce, lay fish at an angle, and finish with cilantro and sesame as colorful accents
