    Grilled oysters are a classic seafood dish that is simple to prepare and packed with flavor. Oysters are a great source of protein, vitamins and minerals, and are high in omega-3 fatty acids. Grilling oysters is a great way to bring out their natural flavor and texture. This recipe for grilled oysters is easy to make and perfect for a summer barbecue or a cozy dinner at home.

    Ingredients

    • Oysters
    • Butter
    • Garlic
    • Parsley
    • Lemon
    • Salt
    • Pepper
    • Old Bay seasoning (optional)

    Method

    • Step-by-step Method for Grilled Oysters
    • Scrub oysters under cold water to remove any grit or debris
    • Preheat grill to high heat
    • Finely mince garlic
    • Chop parsley leaves finely
    • Zest and juice lemon, keeping both separate
    • In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon zest, a pinch of salt, pepper, and optional Old Bay seasoning
    • Shuck oysters, keeping as much liquid in the shell as possible and discarding the top shell
    • Arrange shucked oysters on a heat-proof tray or directly onto the grill if stable
    • Top each oyster with a small spoonful of the flavored butter mixture
    • Place oysters on the grill, close lid, and cook for 4–6 minutes, until butter is bubbling and oysters are just cooked through
    • Remove oysters from grill using tongs
    • Squeeze a little fresh lemon juice over each oyster before serving
    • Serve immediately on a platter lined with rock salt or crushed ice to stabilize the shells
    • Garnish with extra chopped parsley and lemon wedges for presentation
    • Recommend serving with crusty bread to soak up the seasoned butter
