    Ingredients

    • 1/2 lb herring fillets
    • 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
    • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
    • 1/4 cup pickle relish
    • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
    • 2 tablespoons white vinegar
    • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
    • Salt and pepper, to taste

    Method

    • To prepare Herring and Celery Salad, begin by chopping the herring fillets into small pieces. 
    • Place the herring in a bowl and add the celery, onion, pickle relish, mayonnaise, white vinegar, sugar, and salt and pepper to taste. Mix all the ingredients until they are fully combined. 
    • Serve the salad chilled or at room temperature.
