    • 1 whole mackerel, cleaned and scaled
    • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
    • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
    • 1 teaspoon sugar
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 2 tablespoons mirin
    • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
    • Salt and pepper, to taste

    Method

    • Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. 
    • Place the mackerel in an oven-safe dish and season with salt and pepper. 
    • Combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, sugar, garlic, and mirin in a small bowl. 
    • Pour the mixture over the mackerel and sprinkle with sesame seeds. 
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the fish is cooked through. 
    • Serve with steamed vegetables or a side of rice.
