    Ingredients

    • 1 lb squid, cleaned and cut into rings
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    • Salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
    • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh oregano
    • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
    • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme

    Method

    • How to Make Pan Seared Squid with Garlic
    • Pat cleaned squid rings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture
    • Season squid rings lightly with salt and pepper
    • Mince 2 cloves of garlic and set aside
    • Chop fresh parsley, oregano, basil, and thyme; set each herb aside in separate piles
    • Heat olive oil in a large nonstick or stainless skillet over medium-high heat
    • Once oil shimmers and just begins to smoke, add squid rings in a single layer (do not crowd the pan, work in batches if necessary)
    • Sear squid, without stirring, for 30-45 seconds until bottoms are lightly browned
    • Flip squid rings, add minced garlic, and continue to sear for another 30-45 seconds
    • Remove pan from heat as soon as squid is opaque and just cooked through (total time 1.5–2 minutes); avoid overcooking to prevent toughness
    • Immediately drizzle with fresh lemon juice while still hot and toss to coat evenly
    • Sprinkle chopped parsley, oregano, basil, and thyme over the squid
    • Transfer squid and juices to a warm serving plate
    • For plating, arrange squid in a loose mound, spooning pan juices on top; garnish with extra herbs and a lemon wedge if desired
    • Serve immediately as a light main or starter
