    Ingredients

    • 1 whole trout, cleaned and scaled
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped parsley
    • 2 tablespoons freshly chopped dill
    • 1 teaspoon freshly chopped thyme
    • 1 teaspoon freshly chopped rosemary
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    • Lemon slices for garnish

    Method

    • Step-by-Step Method for Baked Trout with Herbs
    • Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
    • Rinse the cleaned, scaled whole trout under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
    • Drizzle 1 tablespoon of olive oil inside and outside the trout.
    • Sprinkle 1/4 teaspoon sea salt and 1/8 teaspoon black pepper inside the fish cavity.
    • Place half of the freshly chopped parsley, dill, thyme, and rosemary inside the cavity.
    • Rub 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder and a pinch of herbs onto the trout's skin.
    • Drizzle the remaining 1 tablespoon olive oil over the outside of the trout.
    • Season the exterior of the fish with remaining sea salt and black pepper.
    • Scatter the rest of the chopped herbs over the trout.
    • Lay lemon slices both inside the cavity and on top of the trout for garnish and aroma.
    • Line a baking dish or tray with parchment or lightly oil to prevent sticking.
    • Place the prepared trout onto the baking dish.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 18–22 minutes, depending on the thickness of the fish, until the flesh flakes easily with a fork.
    • Remove from the oven and let rest for 2–3 minutes before serving.
    • For plating, gently transfer the trout to a serving platter and garnish with extra fresh herbs and lemon slices.
    • Serve immediately, ideally with a fresh salad or steamed vegetables.
