    Ingredients

    • 1 lb. squid, cleaned and cut into rings
    • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
    • 2 tablespoons garlic powder
    • 1 teaspoon paprika
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1/4 cup olive oil
    • 2 tablespoons butter
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
    • Lemon wedges, for garnish

    Method

    • Step-by-Step Method for Fried Squid with Garlic
    • Pat the cleaned and cut squid rings thoroughly dry with paper towels
    • In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper
    • Dredge the dried squid rings in the flour mixture, making sure each piece is lightly and evenly coated
    • Place the coated squid rings on a plate and let sit for 5 minutes to allow the coating to set
    • Meanwhile, heat olive oil and butter together in a large skillet or sauté pan over medium-high heat until hot and shimmering
    • Add the minced garlic to the hot oil-butter mixture and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant, then quickly remove the garlic with a slotted spoon and set aside to prevent burning
    • Working in batches if necessary, add the coated squid rings to the pan in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd
    • Fry squid rings for 1-2 minutes on each side, turning once, until crispy and just golden (do not overcook to avoid toughness)
    • Use a slotted spoon to transfer fried squid to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil
    • Once all squid is fried, briefly return the cooked garlic to the pan to warm, then sprinkle it over the fried squid
    • Transfer the fried squid rings to a serving platter
    • Scatter chopped fresh parsley over the hot squid for color and freshness
    • Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over just before eating
    • For plating, stack squid rings attractively, garnish with parsley and lemon, and serve with the reserved fragrant sautéed garlic scattered on top
    • Suggest pairing with a light salad or crusty bread for a balanced meal
