Grilled oysters are a great starter dish for any summertime meal and they're surprisingly simple to make. All it needs are some basic ingredients!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups softened butter
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 dozen large fresh oysters on the half shell

Method

  • Rinse each oyster under cold running water to remove any bits of shell.

  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in cheese, parsley, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, red pepper, and hot sauce. Cook, stirring frequently until cheese has melted and the mixture is smooth for about 2 minutes. Set aside.

  • Grill oysters over medium heat for 3 to 5 minutes, or until edges begin to brown.

  • Divide cheese mixture among the oysters. Top with any additional garnish that appeals to you. Serve immediately.

  • Serving Suggestions: Serve with grilled bread to soak up the juices and butter!
    This can be served as part of a nautical-themed brunch or dinner, or as an hors d’oeuvre at a party. They can be served with a variety of beverages too!
