    • 2 tablespoon cooking oil
    • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
    • For the marinade
    • 1/4 cup lime juice
    • 1/4 cup soy sauce
    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
    • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 1/2 Jalapeno pepper, diced

    Method

    • Step-by-Step Method: Marinated Tuna Steaks
    • Pat tuna steaks dry with paper towels
    • Prepare marinade by combining lime juice, soy sauce, olive oil, chopped cilantro, sugar, minced garlic, and diced jalapeno in a bowl
    • Whisk marinade ingredients until fully blended
    • Place tuna steaks in a shallow dish or resealable bag
    • Pour marinade over tuna steaks, ensuring all surfaces are coated
    • Cover and refrigerate tuna steaks to marinate for 20–30 minutes
    • While tuna is marinating, preheat grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat
    • Remove tuna steaks from marinade and blot off excess
    • Brush both sides of tuna steaks with cooking oil
    • Place tuna steaks on hot grill pan or skillet
    • Cook tuna steaks for 2–3 minutes per side for rare, or 4–5 minutes per side for medium, based on thickness
    • Sprinkle sesame seeds over steaks during final minute of cooking
    • Remove tuna from pan and let rest for 2 minutes
    • Plate tuna steaks and spoon some of the leftover (unused) marinade or a freshly mixed sauce over the top if desired
    • Garnish with extra cilantro or sesame seeds if available
    • Serve immediately, ideally with lime wedges or a simple salad on the side
