How to cook
- Boil: drop into boiling salted water for 5 minutes, drain, scatter with sea salt.
- Steam: 5–6 minutes over simmering water, finish with sesame oil.
- Microwave: 3 minutes from frozen with a splash of water.
- Stir-fry: blanch first, then toss with chilli, garlic and soy.
Eat the beans by squeezing the pods between your teeth — the empty pods aren’t eaten. Serve with chilled sake or beer.
